/CI Europa-Universität Flensburg
1946, the Pädagogische Hochschule (PH), forerunner of the Universität Flensburg, was opened by order of the British occupation forces. In 1994-95 the Pädagogische Hochschule was granted university status due the diversification of its subjects. As a university, it received the right to habilitate, and its right to confer doctorates (Dr. phil. and Dr. rer. pol.) was extended. In February 2000, the Bildungswissenschaftliche Hochschule was renamed Universität Flensburg.
